Obituary For Benson Oeri Mogere

In Loving Memory of Mwalimu Benson Oeri Mogere (1948–2026)

Mwalimu Benson Oeri Mogere, a respected educator and pillar of the Gotichaki community, peacefully rested on April 18, 2026, while undergoing treatment. Born in 1948 to the late Mzee John Mogere Mogoi and Mama Prisca Nyabonyi, Benson dedicated his life to faith, family, and the pursuit of knowledge.

A Legacy of Education and Leadership Known fondly as “Mwalimu,” Benson was a lifelong scholar who shaped countless young minds over a career spanning several decades. He served as a P1 and later S1 teacher at various institutions, including Nyabera, Riosiri, and Omogwa, where he retired in 2003. Beyond the classroom, he was an active community leader, serving as a member of the South Gucha Land Board and on the Board of Management for Riosiri High School.

Faith and Family A man of firm faith, Benson was a devoted member of the Gotichaki SDA Church, serving in various capacities, including the Elders Council and as Church Treasurer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Peris Mong’are, their seven children—Risper, Josephine, Morgan, Nicholas, Fredrick, Judith, and Dr. Kephar—and seventeen cherished grandchildren.

Funeral Service Details: The family celebrated his life with a service conducted by Executive Funeral Services.

Benson Oeri Mogere fought a good fight, finished his race, and kept the faith. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and the entire Nyanza region community.
