In Loving Memory of Mama Caren Truphena Kerubo Sokobe

It is with deep sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mama Caren Truphena Kerubo Sokobe, who went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2026, at the age of 81.

Biography & Life Overview

Born in 1945 to the late Mzee Nelson Ombati Ongau and the late Mama Maria Bogita Ombati of Bonyakoni Mogweko Village, Mama Caren grew up in a loving family alongside her four siblings: Priscah Kemunto, Elias Ombati, the late Mwambi Ombati, and Francis Ongau Ombati. She attended Nyamagesa D.E.B. Intermediate School from 1959 to 1965. In 1966, she was united in marriage to John Sokobe Orenge from the Mworenge family of Botaranda Boguche, Kiamokama. Mama Caren was a dedicated and hard-working businesswoman who operated at Kiamokama Market, serving as a pillar, leader, and mentor in her local community. A devout Christian, she was an active member of the Chironge Catholic Church, where she faithfully served God throughout her life.

Family & Legacy

Sons and daughters: Elijah Ogoti Sokobe (Principal, Ibeno Senior School), Judith Kinanga, the late Sophia Kwamboka, Brigadier Titus Gitamo (KDF), and Concepta Nyaboke.

Daughters-in-Law: Yunitah Elijah & Emily Kwamboka Gitamo.

Grandchildren: Blessed with 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
