In Loving Memory of Mwalimu Daniel Ratemo Ogechi (1953–2026)

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mwalimu Daniel Ratemo Ogechi, a respected educator and devoted family man. Daniel passed away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 73, at St. Mary’s Mission Hospital in Nairobi.

A Legacy of Education and Leadership.

Born on December 25, 1953, in Bouti Village, Kiong’ongi, Daniel’s life was defined by his commitment to service and learning. Known affectionately as “Mwalimu,” he dedicated over 30 years to the teaching profession in Kenya. His distinguished career included roles at Gusii High, Nyamagwa Boys, and Kioge Girls, eventually retiring as a Deputy Headteacher from Nyamonyo Primary in 2009.

Devotion to Faith and Family.

A staunch Catholic and dedicated church leader, Daniel understood that faith was best expressed through kindness and service to others. He was a pillar of strength for his family and a guiding light for his community.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Joyce Kerubo Ongaki, and their eight children: Samson, Vincent, and Bro. Philemon, Benfrida, Edina, Vincencia, and the late Nyamisa and Susan. He also leaves behind a legacy through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Arrangements.

Procession: Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, departing from Christamarriane Funeral Home to Bouti Village.

Funeral Service: Monday, May 4th, 2026, at Egesa, Bouti Village, followed by burial rites at 2:30 PM.

Mwalimu Daniel Ratemo Ogechi fought the good fight and finished his race with grace and dignity. His wisdom and leadership will forever remain a blessing to the Nyanza region and all who knew him.
