Celebrating the Extraordinary Life of Mama Esther Nyaera Nyambane (1920–2026)

It is with deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Mama Esther Nyaera Nyambane, who peacefully succumbed on March 27, 2026, at the age of 106 years. Born in 1920 in Manga Sub-County, Nyamira County, Esther was the firstborn child of the late Mokeira Kwamboka Nyakundi and Nyakundi Ayonga.

A Legacy of Resilience and Family.

In 1942, Esther was united in marriage to her loving husband, Mzee Nyambane Nyaberi, following his return from World War II. Together, they built a sprawling five-generation legacy. She was a devoted mother to ten children—Nyaboke, Amisi, Monda, Pacificah, Margret, Joel, Elizabeth, the late Monene, Mayogi, and Nyaanga. Her influence extends through a nation of descendants, including 60 grandchildren, 152 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Faith and Community.

A lifelong and faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist church, Mama Esther was baptized in 2008 and was a pillar of the Mokwerero SDA Church. She was a custodian of Gusii customs and a source of “tree-shade wisdom” for all who knew her.

Funeral Arrangements.

A final farewell to our matriarch was be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at her home in Morama Village, where she was laid to rest.
