Obituary For Josephine Mogere Ombui

Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mama Josephine Mogere Ombui (1968–2026)

It is with profound sadness, yet with gratitude for a life well-lived, that the family and Executive Funerals announce the transition of Mama Josephine Mogere Ombui. A devoted matriarch, a hardworking entrepreneur, and a pillar of the community, Josephine passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 58.

Early Life and Education.

Born in 1968 in Kisii County, Josephine was the daughter of the late Mzee Benedicto Manwa and the late Mama Sarah Manwa Mwamogesa. She was the lastborn in a family of eight siblings. She began her academic journey at Daraja Mbili Primary and later Daraja Mbili Secondary, laying the foundation for a life characterized by intelligence and a sharp wit.

A Legacy of Love and Family.

In 1984, Josephine married her beloved husband, Justus Ombui Miruka. Together, they built a home grounded in faith and hard work. She was a dedicated mother to Edwin, Gideon, the late Miruka, Michira, and Sarah. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Mike, Ashley, Seline, Gregory, Simion, and Lyon.

She was a cherished mother-in-law to Thomas Miruka, the late Michira Miruka, James Ogoti, the late Pamela Miruka, Christine Kemunto, Evaline Bochaberi, and Lydia Kwamboka.

Faith and Occupation.

A woman of unwavering faith, Josephine was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church at Keroka Central. Professionally, she was known as an industrious business lady and a “poetry keeper” who inspired those around her with her wisdom and disciplined character.

Funeral Arrangements.

A celebration of her life was held at her home in Kegogi Village, Keroka, with the burial taking place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Tribute.

Mama Josephine will be remembered as a God-fearing, sincere, and go-getter woman. Her family honors her as a “Matriarch” who fought a good fight and kept the faith. As her family notes: “To me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
