Obituary For Mama Osebe Motondi

In Loving Memory of Mama Osebe Motondi (1940 – 2026)

It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mama Osebe Motondi, who went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2026, at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully at Nyangena Hospital following a period of illness bravely borne.

Early Life and Heritage.

Born in 1940 in the South Mugirango Constituency, Gucha District of Kisii County, Mama Osebe was the daughter of the late Omwansu and Nyamatae. She grew up as part of a large, loving family and was a sister to the late Oino, Obutu, late Kinara, Kemuma, Owangi, and the late Obara Mauti.

Marriage and Family Legacy.

In 1954, she was united in marriage to the late Daniel Motondi Oroo in South Mugirango Chache. Together, they built a home in Bomware Nyagichenche Village. Mama Osebe was a pillar of strength to her twelve children, eight sons (Late Benard, Wilfred, Jacob, George, Osman, Peter, Isaiah, and late Omweri) and four daughters (Rebeccah, late Dinah, Peris, and late Joyce). She was also a respected co-wife to Teresa Moraa and a caring step-mother and mother-in-law to many.

Her legacy continues through her 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her jovial spirit and charitable nature.

A Life of Service and Faith.

A dedicated subsistence farmer and a valued member of the Kisii community, Mama Osebe was known for her welcoming heart and quiet strength. Her life was deeply rooted in her faith as a long-standing member of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church – Nyagichenche, where she served faithfully for many years.

Funeral Arrangements.

A celebration of her life was held on May 8, 2026, with her final resting place at the family home in Nyagichenche.
