Obituary & Memorial for Mzee Patroba Onyango Okindo (1962 – 2026)
It is with deep sorrow and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mzee Patroba Onyango Okindo, who went to rest peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 64, surrounded by family at Nyangena Hospital, Kisii.
Birth and Early Life
Patroba was born in 1962 to the late Philip Onyango Okindo and Mama Yunes Kemunto. He grew up in a loving family alongside his siblings: the late Senior Assistant Chief Peter Isaboke Onyango, Yobesh Nyakundi, Esther Moraa (USA), the late Evans Okindo, Rose Gesare, the late Mwalimu Linet Biyani, and Jackline (Kisumu Polytechnic).
Education and Professional Career
Patroba began his education at Masabo Primary School before joining Moi Gesusu Secondary School. He later completed a course in Electrical Installation at Nakuru Institute. Throughout his career, he worked as an electrician at Kiamokama Tea Factory, served in the insurance sector with National Insurance, and later engaged in dedicated farming at his home community.
Family and Marriage
In 1984, Patroba married Retired Madam Principal Jennifer Bitutu Magoma. He was a loving father to Farida Nyanchama, Delma Omaire, Audrey Moraa, Christine Mong’ina, and Raphael Okindo; a proud grandfather to Stefan, Malik, and Leilani; and father-in-law to Brian Omutiti and Erick Auma.
Faith and Community Service
A devoted Christian and faithful member of Gekomoni Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, Patroba actively participated in church activities and faithfully served in the church choir. His kindness, humility, and dedication leave behind a lasting legacy in the Masabo and Bokona community.
Funeral Details & Final Send-Off
Night Vigil & Viewing: Held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the family home in Bokona Village, Masabo sub-location.
Funeral Service & Interment: Friday, July 17, 2026, conducted at his home, with church services led by Pr. Job Obara (Executive Secretary, South Kenya Conference) before laying him to rest at his graveside.
