Celebrating the Life of Peter Mariita Ondieki (1962 – 2026)

It is with deep sorrow yet gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Peter Mariita Ondieki, who rested peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 64. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and exceptionally skilled mechanic, Peter’s legacy of hard work, resilience, and unconditional love will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Early Life and Education

Peter was born in March 1962 in Kegogi village, Charachani Sublocation, Keera Location, Nyamira County. He was the beloved fourth child of the late Nahashon Ondieki and the late Pauline Bosibori. Growing up in a vibrant home, he was a brother to Isaac Bundi, the late Priscilla, Hellen, the late Sarah, the late Achoki, Nyaera, Naom, Walter, Glarence, and Linet. He attended Nyakeyo Primary School, successfully completing his CPE in 1978. Driven by a passion for machinery, Peter joined a private institution in Kisii to specialize in motor vehicle mechanics, laying the foundation for a lifelong, respected career.

Family and Love

Peter was a pillar of strength for his family. He married his first wife, the late Jane Nyamusi, in 1987. He later married his second wife, Jane Wangare, in 1992. He was blessed with five wonderful children: Justus, Caroline, Emmanuel, Bony, and Faith Mary. He was also a doting grandfather to Olive, Faith, Godfrey, Dadius, Sherry, Azel, Andrew, Nelly, and Leavier. His family remembers him as a protector, a wise counselor, and a source of pure happiness who always put his home first.

Professional Journey

Known for his meticulous hands and deep understanding of commercial vehicles, Peter worked with several prominent transport and logistics firms across Kenya. Throughout his distinguished career, he lent his expertise to: Kenya Mwendo Safi, Nairobi Bus Union, Eldoret Dasai Couriers, Lunga Lunga Road Ways (where he met his lovely wife, Wangare), Super Metro Embakasi, Bamburi Cement, SSF, Jumbo Transporters, Nyamira Express, Salgaa (where he successfully operated as a self-employed mechanic until his demise)

Final Journey and Rites

Following a brave battle with illness, managed with immense strength alongside his family, Peter rested on June 9, 2026. His final journey included a departure from Kaplong Funeral Home on June 17, 2026, for prayers at Chepilat and an overnight vigil at his home. He was laid to rest at the family gravesite on June 18, 2026, surrounded by family, colleagues, and the church community.

“Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ…” – Philippians 3:20-21

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
