A Dedicated Educator and Public Servant in Nyamira County
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Teresa Kwamboka Bota, who transitioned peacefully on March 13, 2026. A woman of profound faith and professional integrity, Teresa dedicated her life to her family and her community through her work in education and public service.
Early Life and Education
Born in 1955, Teresa’s journey was marked by a commitment to learning. She pursued her education at Nyambaria Primary and Itibo Girls Secondary before training as a nursery teacher at Nyanchwa T.T.C. These foundational years shaped her into the compassionate mentor she became.
Professional Career and Service
Teresa began her career as a nursery school teacher at Magwagwa Primary School, nurturing the minds of the next generation. Her career later transitioned to public administration, where she served with distinction in the Revenue Department of the Nyamira County Council until her retirement. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent and dedicated professional.
Faith and Family Life
A lifelong member of the S.D.A. Church, Teresa’s life was anchored in her Christian values. In 1976, she married the late John Bota, and together they raised five children: Rael, Wyclife, Jackline, Mary, and Ezekiel. She was a proud grandmother to many, including Olpha Kemunto, Benson Kiboma, and Martha Kerubo, among others.
Strength in Adversity
Since being diagnosed with heart disease in 2015, Mama Teresa has demonstrated immense strength and resilience. Despite her health challenges, she remained a source of positivity for her family until she became bedridden in January 2026 and eventually passed at Cheron Hospital.
